Book Review: Circle of Life by Ketaki Date

go here I couldn’t believe it that in my rush to get the books and get out of the library sooner, I picked this one.

Last time I picked a book from Pageturn Publisher – A New Dawn – it was a disaster. I could write the word in capital letters and that wouldn’t be enough to describe how much of a disaster ‘A New Dawn’ is.

I thought I should give ‘Circle of Life’ a chance as I have not read anything by the author.

So let’s see how ‘Circle of Life’ story is any good…..

Nandini meets Prayag while exploring the village and doesn’t like him much.

Even when he asks what brings her to the village, she’s reluctant to reveal the real reason of her visit to either him or his mother.

They seem nice enough people, but Nandini is wary. When Nandini finds out Prayag’s mother is the person, who once knew Gayatribai, she gladly extends her stay.

She’s falling for Prayag a little more each they spend together, but not sure if she should get too involved.

As it’s clear he would not be leaving the village and she doesn’t want to leave her life as she knows it to meet disappointment.

Despite being aware of Prayag’s interest in her, she’s sure if he found out that she has no traceable past, he and her mother would dub Nandini as an unsuitable match.

here Review:

It’s a small mercy that the story of ‘Circle of Life’ is not terrible. But that’s no compliment to the story as it’s not something worth spending time on either.

It’s the first book of the author; in that regard its okay. The story isn’t unhinged like that of ‘A New Dawn’.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not like a B-grade movie. What shall I say about the plot?

There is a plot (B-grade movie like), but at the same time, there’s no plot.

It seems the author had no idea what to do with it. The author failed to make much drama out of it. Maybe someone, probably an editor, needed to help the author a bit more.

The romance between Nandini & Prayag is so lifeless that I started feeling harassed.

The story moves at a frantic pace, which would have been a nice reading experience, if the story was good.

I got so bored that I started searching for the publisher’s website and didn’t find it. After some more research I found that the most titles Pageturn published were published back in 2012.

I’m guessing the company either went offline or out of business. I would not be surprised if it went out of business, considering the lame stories they published.

Maybe it was an attempt to take over Mills and Boon at least on Indian soil. But for that to happen one would need to do everything right.
